Love is giving. I know this is gonna sound lame or weird or whatever you kids call it nowadays but if you cannot give, you can never love. The secret to love is that you have balance it out with hatred. Hatred isn’t the opposite of love. The opposite of love is selfishness. So, the trick is, if you fight with him and you really fight like you’re about to kill him because you hate him so much but if he leaves you right now, you will go crazy — that’s love. And that if it ends right now, everything is wasted. That’s the mystery of it. Because even with all that hatred, there is still love.
